David H. McKinley is a founding principal of McKinley Carter Wealth Services and serves as president and chief investment officer, roles through which he leads the firm's investment program and brings a lifetime of professional investment experiences to provide strategic direction to the overall program and advisory team.
Before McKinley Carter, David held roles at a regional bank's trust department where he began to learn the fundamentals of investment analysis and portfolio construction before joining a national investment firm where he served as a vice-president of investments.
In this next phase of his career development, he led a team of advisors providing a combination of financial consulting and portfolio management services to high net worth families, small- to medium-sized businesses and institutions, and non-profit organizations.
Over the years, David has been recognized for leadership in business, most recently, by the State Journal as a "Who's Who in West Virginia Business" and West Virginia Executive as a "Sharp Shooter," which are designations he's been proud to accept on behalf of his entire team.
David has a history of leadership and accomplishment that expands beyond business to include his community, from an appointment to serve on the Wheeling Park Commission to chairing investment committees for his Boy Scout council and West Liberty University, as well as chairing boards of directors for Wheeling area Rotary and Habitat for Humanity.
Since 2009 appointments in the depths of the Great Recession, his focus of service has included West Virginia as a trustee of the Investment Management Board overseeing over $20 billion of state pension and other public funds.  During this period, he has also served as an advisor to the Pittsburgh branch of the Cleveland Federal Reserve Bank.
A graduate of West Liberty University, David remains a lifelong learner and regularly pursues valuable and relevant knowledge through non-degree programs at various institutions like the College for Financial Planning, Harvard Business School, and The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
As McKinley Carter has grown to be among the largest and fastest growing wealth management firms, recognized by CNBC in 2015 as one of the 100 best firms in the country, David is regularly contacted by industry experts and peers, invited to speak at industry conferences for his perspectives.
