Associate Financial Strategist

Kara Rogers has been an associate financial strategist for McKinley Carter since May 2013. Her background in behavioral psychology adds another area of expertise to the broad array of experience found on the McKinley Carter professional team. Kara graduated from West Virginia University with a degree in psychology, then received a full fellowship to Ohio University’s School of Human and Consumer Sciences to study child development and counselling. The first part of her career was spent as a therapist and administrator in mental health, child welfare, and public education. Simultaneously, Kara served 15 years as an adjunct faculty member at West Virginia University – Parkersburg teaching student development, Psychology, and Sociology.

Kara was recruited into the financial industry in 2008. As she completed her insurance and investment licensing, she found the work to be a great fit, allowing her to continue to counsel, write, and teach. She advanced her investment experience by writing comprehensive financial plans and working on family trust and estate planning matters prior to joining McKinley Carter.

Kara has a great interest in promoting financial literacy and education among school aged children, and enjoys working with woman and families. Kara is a member of the Chamber of Commerce of the Mid-Ohio Valley, the Mid-Ohio Valley Estate Planning Council, and the Regional Business Alliance. She is currently enrolled in The College for Financial Planning to receive her Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation.
